My phone company didn’t show up for a repair or installation appointment. What can I do?

Companies must give you a four-hour window to show up to repair or install your service.  If the company does not show up within that four-hour window, you can file a complaint in small claims court requesting lost wages or other expenses that you can prove you suffered because of the missed appointment.  The maximum amount you can request is $600.  However, if you are not home during the agreed-upon appointment time and the company could not get access to the necessary equipment, you cannot file a complaint.  If the company did its best to inform you that the technician could not make the appointment, or if there is a storm or other crisis beyond the company’s control, you have no basis to file a complaint.  If the company has to reschedule an appointment due to its failure to show, the next appointment must be a two-hour window.
